Ecuador E-Commerce Exceeds USD 7B As Marketplaces Scale Logistics

Ecuador Brief Staff||Source: El Comercio

Ecuador's e-commerce market exceeded USD 7 billion in economic movement during 2025, up from less than USD 1.5 billion before the pandemic.

The market is consolidating as consumer trust improves, payment options expand, and delivery times shorten.

Marketplace Scale

The digital channel is now part of the core commercial strategy for Ecuadorian companies.

Mercado Libre Ecuador describes its platform as an integrated ecosystem that manages logistics, payment gateways, and the commercial process.

The company recorded sales growth close to 200% between 2024 and 2025. For 2026, it says the trend is accelerating and its target is to quadruple 2025 results.

Around 85% of orders arrive in less than 48 hours, and many cities already have same-day delivery.

Market Headroom

Ecuador still sells approximately four times less than Peru on Mercado Libre, indicating room for digital education, logistics strengthening, and new seller onboarding.

The platform has more than 13,000 active merchants and more than 250 official stores.

The next eCommerce Day Ecuador is scheduled for July 22. The most recent CyberDay had close to 50 companies, while Argentina has more than 1,000 companies participating in similar campaigns.

For operators, the opportunity is not only consumer demand. It is the infrastructure layer: payments, logistics, trust, and seller density.
