Fruta del Norte, located in Zamora Chinchipe, produced 118,994 ounces of gold in the second quarter of 2026.

The project is operated by Lundin Gold and is one of Ecuador's two large-scale industrial mines operating since 2019.

The Q2 volume was below the 139,433 ounces produced in the same quarter of 2025.

Guidance And Power

CEO Jamie Beck described the quarter as the weakest expected period of the year and said the mine remains on track for 475,000-525,000 ounces of 2026 production.

Lundin Gold also signed a renewable power purchase agreement with Barka Capital. The agreement is intended to cover the 20 MW currently required by Fruta del Norte's operation.

What To Watch

The second-half watch point is whether higher-grade access and plant performance keep the operation inside guidance. The power contract is also relevant because it reduces exposure to public-grid supply risk for one of Ecuador's most important mining assets.
