Mabe Commits $35 Million to New Guayaquil Washing Plant

Mabe has announced a new industrial project in Ecuador, marking an expansion of its operations in the white goods and home appliance sector. The company is investing $35 million to establish a manufacturing plant specializing in the washing category.

The facility is located at Mabe's headquarters on the Daule road in Guayaquil. This plant is slated to commence operations in the first months of 2027 and will represent Mabe's first washing plant in the region.

The project targets a production capacity exceeding 90,000 units annually. This capacity is intended to meet local market demand and supply countries including Peru, Colombia, and several Central American markets. The operation is expected to generate approximately 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs.

In parallel with this industrial expansion, Mabe has updated its commercial portfolio across refrigeration, kitchens, built-in systems, freezers, and air conditioners. The company has also integrated ecodesign and full life cycle assessment into its product engineering, focusing on energy-efficient solutions. For instance, Mabe's refrigerators utilize R-600a refrigerant gas, which is stated to reduce ozone layer depletion impact by 100% and global warming potential by 98%, while improving energy efficiency by up to 20%. Washing units feature Aqua Saver Green technology, designed to achieve savings of up to 76% in water consumption per cycle and up to 55% in electricity consumption.
