Ecuador's average passive effective rate for fixed-term deposits fell to 5.29% in June 2026, continuing a gradual decline from 5.34% in May and 5.40% in April.
The benchmark rate was averaged by the Junta de Politica y Regulacion Financiera y Monetaria for fixed-term deposits in Ecuadorian financial institutions.

Radar data from the Red de Instituciones Financieras de Desarrollo (RFD) placed delinquency at 1.53% in public and private banks as of April 2026. The same account said most of that delinquency was in the productive-credit and consumer-credit segments.
Economic analyst Hector Delgado said fixed-term deposits remain an option for conservative investors seeking capital preservation and relatively predictable returns, while investors with higher risk tolerance and broader investment horizons could consider other options such as securities markets or investment funds.
