Ecuador formalized the Gonzanama and Sanguillin water-protection areas in Calvas, Loja, adding 7,364.35 hectares to the country's water-resource protection map.
The stated objective is to guarantee conservation of forests, water sources and wildlife, while protecting water quality for human consumption and food sovereignty for 7,829 inhabitants.
