Nestlé Moves Nature’s Heart Production From Tabacundo To Guayaquil

Ecuador Brief||Source: Primicias

Nestlé is moving Terrafertil's factory operation from Tabacundo to Guayaquil, closing the production site tied to the Nature's Heart brand.

Nestlé acquired a majority stake in Terrafertil on September 4, 2018. Terrafertil was founded in Ecuador in 2005 by David, Raúl, and Daniel Bermeo, and the Nature's Heart brand expanded to more than 30 countries.

Company Rationale

Nestlé said Terrafertil will move its factory operation to Guayaquil as part of an operating-optimization strategy intended to strengthen operational and technical capabilities, optimize processes, and support sustainable company growth.

For the Tabacundo site, the company is evaluating alternatives, including a sale.

Financial And Employment Context

Company-superintendency information cited in the report shows 141 Terrafertil employees in 2025 and sales revenue of USD 30.9 million. Terrafertil S.A. is a subsidiary of Terrafertil Gold Switzerland GMBH, which is itself a subsidiary of Nestlé S.A. of Switzerland.

The source report did not specify how many workers are directly affected by the move.

What To Watch

Watch for the disposition of the Tabacundo facility, any employment-transition disclosures, and whether consolidation in Guayaquil changes export logistics or domestic distribution for the Nature's Heart portfolio.
